Ozon and LitRes combine services to enhance convenience of digital content purchases on the marketplace

The Ozon marketplace and book service LitRes are the first in Russia to completely integrate the sale of digital content on a marketplace. Buyers can purchase all of LitRes' digital content on Ozon and seamlessly use it in the book service. The spectrum of digital books on Ozon will double thanks to this alliance and give LitRes access to a new audience that will provide more than 5% of the service's revenue this year.

LitRes and Ozon have combined digital content sales services. The book service's entire digital catalog will soon be showcased on the marketplace. The former includes more than one million electronic and audiobooks, performances and podcasts, containing new releases, bestsellers, as well as books by digital authors from LitRes. Users will be able to go through a full purchase cycle, from choosing a book to paying on Ozon, and then reading or listening to it on the app or the LitRes website. At the same time, buyers of digital books will have access to all of the advantages from Ozon that they're accustomed to.

"Ozon started as an online bookstore and this category is continuing to grow, despite the high base. Simultaneously, we see the greatest growth potential for audio and digital books within this category. They are already gaining popularity across the globe. According to our forecasts, their penetration into the Russian book market will grow to 21% by 2026 amid a decline in the share of printed books. Therefore, we were the first in the e-commerce sector to create a seamless integration of the largest catalog of digital books by the leading service LitRes. The range of digital books on Ozon has now doubled and it's become even more convenient to purchase them," says Anna Karpova, Ozon Director of Business Development.

"We've been working with Ozon for nearly 10 years and the complete integration of the sale of our product line on the marketplace is a big stage in the development of cooperation between two modern technological market leaders in online book sales, both paper and digital. This, for us, isn't only access to a huge new audience of users, but also a way to expand the reader's market as a whole by increasing the percentage of consumption of electronic and audiobooks, as well as to strengthen the distribution of books by publishers and authors presented in LitRes, including from the fastest-growing category on the market, 'samizdat' (self-publishing). We expect that by the end of 2023, our revenue from sales of books on Ozon will amount to at least 5% of the total revenue of the service LitRes GC. For Ozon users, integration with LitRes is an opportunity to gain access to the broadest catalog of digital books in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, making purchases in a typical manner with all of the advantages and bonuses of the marketplace, and reading and listening to books in an easy-to-use app with flexible settings, seamlessly switching to LitRes," says Sergey Anuriev, LitRes GC CEO.
