Ingosstrakh Insurance Company has compensated Ozon for the losses incurred as a result of a fire at one of its fulfillment centers. The incident took place in the Istrinsky District of Moscow Region in August 2022.
Following a comprehensive investigation conducted by both parties alongside independent experts, the incident was officially confirmed as an insured event. Ozon was compensated with a lump-sum payment of RUB 6.443 billion. The risk was reinsured on the Russian market.
The fire occurred on August 3, 2022, covering an area of 55,000 square meters, and affecting the second and third sections of the warehouse complex. Ozon had leased the warehouse from a company owned by Orientir Group.
By June 2023 Ozon compensated its sellers from its own funds for the cost of goods that were either damaged or lost as a result of the fire. In the fall of 2023, Ozon resumed logistics operations at the rebuilt sections of the fulfillment center on Novorizhskoye Highway.
“These agreements are the outcome of substantial and meticulous concerted efforts of the Company and its insurance partners. Following the investigation, the incident was confirmed as an insured event. We are grateful to our colleagues for their constructive dialogue during this process, and for the fair resolution. We now consider this insurance claim with Ingosstrakh to be fully settled,” said Ozon.
“Given the large number and range of damaged goods, we worked extensively with the client to sort out the inventory and property and assess the damage. We thank Ozon for their trust, and will be delighted to continue supporting our partner as they work towards realizing their ambitious plans,” stated Ingosstrakh’s press office.
